DC Homebrewers Club Cherry Blossom Competition Info
Registration is closed.
Entry registration is closed.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and in the interest of maintaining proper health protection protocols, we are indefinitely postponing this year's Cherry Blossom competition. It was a difficult decision to make, but ultimately, the health of our friends in the homebrew community supercedes any optional homebrew event.
All entry fees will be refunded. If you have already dropped off an entry, you may retrieve it from the drop-off location. Shipped entries will not be returned.
If you have signed up to judge or steward the event, please be advised NOT to show up on Mar 28 at the judging location.
We apologize for any inconvenience, but it's the right thing to do. If we decide to hold it later this year, you will be notified.
======[ALL INFORMATION BELOW THIS LINE CAN BE IGNORED ]====
On-line registration is required.
You may enter up to three (3) different beers into the competition, as long as each entry complies with the rules of this competition. You may enter more than one beer in a major category, but you may NOT enter more than one beer in the same sub-category. The entry fee is $8.
Please list any and all Co-Brewers under the "General" heading on the "Add an Entry" page.
Entries require two (2) bottles each. Individual bottle labels should be printed from this program, and affixed to the bottles with rubber bands. ===> PLEASE DO NOT USE TAPE OR GLUE <===.
All entries become the property of DC Homebrewers.
It is the entrant's responsibility to enter his or her beer in the proper category, as specified in the 2015 BJCP "Style Guidelines." No entry will be reclassified. For additional details refer to the guidelines at the BJCP website: http://bjcp.org/docs/2015_Guidelines_Beer.pdf
Entries in some categories/sub-categories need to specify special ingredients and/or classic style information on the entry form and bottle labels. These need to be entered when registering the entry.
All entries will be picked up from drop-off locations the morning after the entry deadline.
All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities).
The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrived damaged.
The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles for judging and to restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries.
Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The average of the scores will rank each entry in its category.
The Best of Show judging will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the top winners.
Bottles will not be returned to entrants.
SCORESHEETS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD WITHIN 3 DAYS AFTER THE COMPETION IS COMPLETED. SCORE SHEETS WILL NOT BE EMAILED!!

Judging Session Locations and Dates
Best of Show
Results will be posted to the competition web site after judging is finished and all scores are entered into the system.
The awards ceremony will take place at the April DC Homebrewers meeting (tentatively scheduled for 04/23).
Medals and prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category plus 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the Best Of Show round. Any entries awarded an "honorable mention" will not be awarded any medals or prizes.
Score sheets will generally be available for download from the website a few days after the event. Due to situations beyond our control, it may take a bit longer. We ask for your patience. If you haven't seen your score sheets on the website by April 04, then please contact us - NOT BEFORE THEN. Thanks...
Medals and prizes will be awarded at the April DC Homebrewers Club meeting. Non-members are invited to attend to claim their medals and prizes. Those who cannot attend the meeting will be contacted to determine if they can be picked up at a local homebrew shop. If this is not possible, medals and prizes will be mailed.
